It is a summery variety coming from New Zeeland.
The fruit is of medium size, with a red-orange streaked peel on the 40-60% of the surface.
The pulp is hard, crisp, sweet-taste juicy but also durable.
The picking up takes place during the second-third decade of August, in two or three times, to raise quality and colour. The Gala is the first summer apple with a high standard of quality, that is displaying itself all over the world also thanks to the spread of some new much more coloured grafts.
